In advance of the upcoming Olympics in Red China, here’s one of the greatest moments in the history of The Games. To me it might be the greatest moment. First a little backstory. Derek Redmond was a world class sprinter from Great Britain. At the age of 19 he had broken the British 400 meter record and he made the 1988 Olympic squad in Seoul, South Korea. Ten minutes before his event was to begin, he was forced to pull out of the race due to an Achilles tendon injury. He returned to the Olympics in 1992, the Barcelona games, determined to win a medal. His father Jim accompanied him.
